Mures is situated on the boundary of Alcalá la Real in Jaen. It is located to the South East and has a population of approximately 700 inhabitants. Mures can be located from the highway N-432 Granada-Badajoz. Travelling on the N-432 towards Granada you will find the sign for Mures 8 kilometers from Alcala La Real on the left hand side. Having turned left it is a further 4 kilometers to the village.
According to the dictionary of Madoz, this area was isolated during the recapture of Granada and was populated by woodcutters. Its landscape is level and even with a great number of streams and water sources. Mures is a village of inhabitants with a great sense of conviction. It has a park, a social center and an associative organisation called Adrumel. Mures wants to establish a small local organisation and aspires to have a medical centre that will be open every day.

The celebrations on the 16th and 17th of August are in honor of San Roque and are very well attended. You can visit the famous pillar of 'The Three Pipes' that dates from 1933. Different establishments offer appetizing plates of gourmet food of the area.

Have you found the famous pillar? Could you provide directions so we can take a picture?
