Frailes

 

The town of Frailes is located in the extreme southeast corner of the province of Jaén, integrated in the region known as the Sierra Sur. The name of the town comes from the Catholic friars who were based there in Medieval times.

Frailes is blessed with some beautiful and historic architecture. The parish church of Santa Lucía is graced with a beautiful belltower. There are various legendary houses scattered around the town, including La Casa de Los Amandos and La Casa de Don Fermín.

The fertile valley around the town provides a variety of crops including fruiting trees and grapes, alongside the ubiquitous olives. Frailes is well-known for its locally produced wine.
